Checking Your Link Text
Here is one more Google operator that you will want to use from Time to time to see how your site is stacking up on the search engine results.
This one is called "all in anchor" Sounds serious... here is how you use it...
1. Go to google.com and type in allinanchor: keyword phrase
2. Results will rank sites according to the quality of links they have to their site using the keyword phrase as the link text.
Sound confusing? Let me explain. First link text or anchor text is the text used to link to your site. Some sites will use www.yourwebsite.com as their anchor text others will use "Click Here" or read more as their anchor text, but remember you want to use link text that is keyword rich.
If you are not in the top 10 for "allinanchor: your keyword phrase" You need to do 2 things.
1. Get some more quality links to your site that include the keyword phrase
2. Work on your internal linking using your keyword phrase throughout your site as a link to other pages on your site.
