Google and Yahoo! Joining Forces

Yesterday Google announced an agreement with Yahoo! to show their Sponsored Links (Google Adwords) on the Yahoo! U.S. and Canadian search results. Google will also provided content advertising to Yahoo! as well. Google is already has a similar partenership with Ask.com and AOL.com and you can read more about Google's Post about the Yahoo! Google agreement here

A few points about the deal according to Tech Crunch

1. It is none exclusive - Google and Yahoo! ads will run on Yahoo!
2. It is expected to add $800 million in revenue
3. Yahoo! natural search will be unaffected by the agreement

What does this mean for you the advertiser?

One is that Google is continuing to solidify it's postion as the premire place to advertise on the web. Their advertising engine is robust and reliable. With some of their other offerings like audio ads, newspaper ads and opportunities to advertise in other media from Adwords, they are aiming to become the one stop shop for all your marketing and advertising needs.

Secondly, you can increase your exposure to more customers with less work. Now you don't have to have an advertising account at Yahoo! and Google if you don't want to, just advertise on Yahoo! right from your Adwords account. Seems a bit strange but you could do it.

I'll keep my eye on this and it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds in the future.
