Rodney: I am Rodney from Reachd. We are here at Webmaster World 2007 in Vegas and we just sat in on the open panel with all the search engines. I am just chating now with Guy Kawasaki who is the moderator here. I just wanted to ask you if you could just talk to us a little bit about trummers, heard in a senior book is out the store and all that, but trummers is new to me, so?
Guy Kawasaki: Yeah, the trumors is the site where people can post news, rumors, true rumors. It started off where people could put gossip and all those kinds of thing and we got on so far up scale it is little scary. Now, it is really something that I would like it to be NPR for your eyes. So you are now driving a long you listen to NPR, I hope you listen to NPR. May be to young to listen to NPR, but if suppose you are listening to NPR and there is a weird story about 500 pound octopus or 1000 pound shark and then there something about big chine and then there is something about Lindsay Lohan , just all across the board interesting off the beaten path stories, that is where we put into trummers. So, just like an NPR radio, we want interesting stories that are of and eclectic and sort of human interest all the time.
Rodney: So you say that is where we put in the trummers who is I guess, we…?
Guy Kawasaki: Myself obviously and the co-founders, but we also have the trummers around the world and they find all these stories in journal and in sites that you could periodically fine, but you probably wouldn’t, it would take hours to find it. So, we are user generated content, we are user edited contact.
Rodney: Ok, cool and we teach like search engine optimization to a small business owners and real estate agents, just wondering so you are small business owner and let say you are just getting going small marketing campaign, where you are going to focus your marketing dollars?
Guy Kawasaki: I hate to say it, but I really think may be it is romantic in the eve, but is it a content play or is that you are selling widgets and what is it?
Rodney: May be service, you offer service.
Guy Kawasaki: Honestly, I don’t know if it is about search engine optimization and those things. I think it is about providing a great service and the likelihood is that the best lead generation system you have is your satisfied customer is selling other people to use it. So I would focus on the service, I mean it is very easily evangelize something that is great, it is very heard evangelize crap and so make sure you don’t have the crap. Most people have crap and they are trying to do all the optimization around it, that’s as backwards. If life gets a lot easier for search engines and optimizations and evangelism when you have something good, so that places start.
Rodney: So, I guess you heard it straight from Guy Kawasaki’s mouth, if you are getting started, don’t start with crap, start it with good stuff.
Guy Kawasaki: That is how you probably start.
